Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi this week endorsed Governor Cuomo’s paid family leave proposal, along with 18 other members of Congress.
The Assembly’s one house budget proposal includes a $30 million plan to combat heroin use in New York. The proposal allots $15 million for treatment and prevention, $9 million for recovery services, and $6 million for programs to help people find treatment options.
AIDs advocates urged Governor Cuomo and the legislature to add $70 million to the state budget to help end the AIDS epidemic.
Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal is planning to introduce a bill to allow for “supervised injection facilities” so that addicts can use under the supervision of medical professionals. The mayor of Ithaca recently advocated a similar measure.
